The 29th Annual Soup Sunday is quickly approaching.  This is a yummy benefit for Arkansas Advocates for Children & Families The date is February 21 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in West Little Rock. Tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12.

Restaurants are lining up with long time favorites such as Capitol Bistro, The Villa Italian Restaurant, Dave’s Place, Arkansas Children’s Hospital and more. They are still hearing from chefs, but their first new restaurant this year is Ump’s Grill located at the Dickey Stephens Ballpark.

The silent auction will be bigger and better than last year. Hot items this year will be two tickets to fly anywhere on Southwest Airlines and an Italian Dinner for 10 prepared by the AACF Board of Directors.

And who can forget the smooth, jazzy sounds of the Carl Mouton Ensemble featuring Ramona Smith? They sure got the kids and adults on the dance floor last year.

New this year will be our VIP Signature Soup Room. For an additional price, you will be able to enjoy a specialty soup prepared and served by Chef Mark Abernathy of the Red Door and Loca Luna. A specialty dessert and breads will be offered as well. Guests will also be able to meet Mary Twedt of KUAR’s Arkansas Cooks. Mary will share with you her favorite “comfort food” stories and maybe tell some food secrets. Beer, provided by Diamond Bear Brewery, and wine will be provided in the VIP Room as well. Tickets will be $50 per person which will include access to the main dining room and the VIP Signature Soup Room.

For tickets or to volunteer, contact Nancy at nleonhardt@aradvocates.org or 501-371-9678, ext. 103.

Sponsor Packet

Your sweetie will satisfy their sweet tooth with decadent dessert buffets filled with tantalizing truffles, chocolate covered strawberries, cakes, brownies and a fountain overflowing with warm milk chocolate surrounded by fresh fruits and cakes for dipping. The bar even participates in the theme with a Godiva Chocolate Martini as the signature drink.

The chocolate themed evening also includes a seated dinner and live and silent auctions that are known to always include some very enticing items. Past items include an exclusive trip to Cabo San Lucas to stay in Susie and Charles Morgan’s home, a duck hunt at Carol and Witt Stephen’s famous Screaming Wings field in Stuttgart and chocolate diamonds courtesy of Sissy’s Log Cabin.

Guest speaker for the event is a family who has stayed at the Ronald McDonald House. Sharing their experience of having an ill child and their time in the Ronald McDonald House, the family gives guests a better idea of what struggles and victories hundreds of families go through each year.

This event features the famous Ronald McDonald House Share-A-Night auction where guests have the unique opportunity to sponsor a night, week, month or three month stay for families at the Ronald McDonald House. Guests then dance the night away to live music. Past crowd pleasers include Memphis Soul Revue and The GroanUps.

This confectionary wonder is more than just chocolate on a table, it is a night to celebrate the wonderful work of a charity that brings help and hope to families in need. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas really does make a difference, and with events as successful and entertaining as the Chocolate Fantasy Ball, RMHC AR should be able to continue its mission for years to come.

Mark your calendar now for February 13, 2010 and come experience the chocolate extravaganza.
